I got Cameras

The past month have brought many new cameras into my collection. It all started with the purchase of my Nikon D80. I have been looking at these for at least 2 years and finally had the money for it. Simply put I love it. I got the kit with the 18-135 lens included and am looking at a couple of other lens, primarily the Sigma 105mm f2.8 and Nikon 70-300 f4.5/5.6. Can't wait for that Sigma.

Also yesterday Catie and I went out to Columbia to Burning Bridges. It's a really nice antique shop that is three huge floors. Lots of things to look at and lots of things to buy. I was able to find four antique cameras. I like my old cameras, and like them even more if they work. Three of the four of these work fine, and one just needs to be cleaned thoroughly. One 35mm, Two 620mm, and One 120mm.

Hershey Happy

Went to Hershey Park again. This time it was with Catie, Jeremy, and Lauren. We decided to get there early and get out of there early. This was a good choice since that place was packed. We got there about 10am and went straight to the back of the park to get onto the wooden coasters without a line. We then went to check out the new coaster Fahrenheit, it was only 11ish and the line was already at a 2 HOUR WAIT! Seriously that's just ridiculous. Needless to say we skipped that one. We walked around for a bit, rode some coasters and a few spinning rides and then decided that it was time to leave. It was hot and crowded. We stopped by Chocolate World on the way out which is the same old thing. Catie and I got some funny pictures on the rides this time out, but they are all so expensive to buy. It's like $10 for a 4x6 print. Boo to that. Anyway I got some pics on the swings...

Normal Swing Riding

Catie using the swings as her own recliner

YAY!

Yeah she was trying to fly or something

Jeremy trying not to lose his glasses on this extreme ride

This cowboy looked like a sweet dood. Plus his beard looked like Jeremy's

It was a fun day, which lead to a fun evening of hanging out and playing Munchkin. I'll leave you is time with this video of a creepy puppet show in the acrade dome in the park.

What has happened in the past month

Alright I know it's been a long time since I've made a post, but I kind of have a reason. I've been super busy that's why! Now lets sit back and listen to me type.

On July 22nd Catie and I went down to Myrtle Beach for about 4 days. We left at 4pm on Tuesday after work and got down there around 2am Wednesday morning. It was a really nice and needed break. We did a bunch of touristy stuff while down there. The first night down there we all went to the Liberty Steak House for dinner. Needless to say it was amazing food and beer.

This is the first thing you see when you get there

They do Love America

I opened the menu to find that the still served "Freedom Fries"

I had to have me some "Freedom Fries"

After a plate of fries some popcorn buffalo shrimp and a delicious oatmeal porter beer.

Needless to say it was all delicious and we ended up going back a second time a couple days later. If you're ever in Myrtle Beach check out Liberty Steak House.

When we got back I started getting ready for another big thing that happened. I started packing for THE BIG MOVE! Well not that big. I have moved back in with Tauzin again. We found a totally sweet place. 1500 square feet, finished basement, covered back porch, the works. So that's been a pain in my ass, but luckily I've had Catie with me this whole time. I could not I repeat NOT have done this without her. She has put up with me being a cranky asshole for more then a week and still will lay next to me and cuddle. She's the bestest.

Update:Check out my flickr on the right there to see some pics of the new place as I'm fixing it up.

Other then that things have been the normal. I started my 5th term of school a few weeks ago. This is the hardest term that we have and it's already showing. I don't remember being this worried about school since I started. Fingers crossed that I get through without killing my GPA.

Music: Give Defiance, Ohio a listen to. Think of a folkier less poetic version of Cursive's "Ugly Organ". Cursive meets Against Me!....not to bad.

Movies:
Just Add Water - Standard little film about a nice guy living in a down and out town. He gets picked on and put down from every angle except for the grocery store clerk. Staring Jonah Hill, Justin Long, Danny Devito, and Dylan Walsh.

The Onion Movie - Based around the Onion Paper. Basically a bunch of short "funny" clips strung together through a news anchor. There is a small plot somewhere in the background. I thought it was going to be much funnier then it was.

Persepolis - A great animated story about a young Iranian girl during the Islamic revolution. Really a great film. I did not expect to get as much out of this film as I did. Definitely check it out.

30 Days of Night
- During 30 days of pure night a small Alaskan town is attacked by Vampires. Doesn't sound like much, but it turned out to be a great vampire film. I rented this down in Myrtle Beach to watch and expected to want to turn it off half way through, but never wanted to. The ending was a bit weak, but man did it have some good gore in it.

21 - The movie about a group of MIT students that counted cards in Vegas. Staring Jim Sturgess, and Kevin Spacey. I really like gambling and poker, so I really enjoyed this film. Good story, but I'm not sure if someone not into poker would enjoy it as much.

Step Brothers - So far the FUNNIEST MOVIE of the summer. It's about two 40 something guys who still live with their parents. Their parents get married and thusly the two guys become step brothers. The plot is nothing special or deep, but we laugh through about 90% of that film. It was great. Starring Will Farrel and John C. Riley.

I'll leave you with this....it is completely real!
