Happy Holidays Everyone

Well Xmas has come and gone now. It was the first white one in forever and was very nice and laid back. I hope all of you had a nice relaxing one also.

I am posting something here for one real reason though. I wanted to let anyone that reads this (???) that i am going to start doing a Project 365 for photography this coming year (2010). I will be posting everything in a collection on my Flikr page. If you would like to follow me or give me suggestions it would be great. Hopefully I will be starting it out with a trip to the Mummers Day Parade*.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy new years.

*Looks like Philly is not going to happen because of the weather.

Welcome Back!

Well hello everyone (the two that read this anyway). I know it's been a long long time. It's been just as busy. Catie moved to State College to pursue her Masters in Rural Soc and I am stuck in Shrewsbury right now. Keep checking back for a string of post coming up about what I did if you care. For now though I thought that for now though that I'd let you know of some awesome music that has come out.

Three albums that have made me happy:

First we have Every Time I Die's: New Junk Aesthetic. This album (along with the other two in this post) is amazing. It's got the standard ETID feel to it, but is almost a perfect mix of their hardcore style and southern rock styling that they have been leaning towards with recent albums. From the opening track (Roman Holiday) where they use only about 3 chords and stay pretty slow to the steady beat and harcore feel of After One Quater of a Revolution. This albums never really lost me. One of my favorites from them. If you have enjoyed the past two albums from ETID or even if you enjoyed them years ago then check this out.

Now onto Converge's: Axe to Fall. What can you say that hasn't already been said about Converge? Not to much. I haven't met someone that has not fallen in love with this album. And from all three members of Genghis Tron who wrote and played on it to Steve von Till of Neurosis who plays keyboards on the last track and members of Cave who also contribute to the album you can see why. It's been said that this is their best work since Jane Doe and I have to agree. Check this out no matter what type of metal or hardcore or whatever you listen to.

Finally for these three albums is Between the Buried and Me's: The Great Misdirect. This album is the bands follow up to their album Colors. It follows suit with only 6 tracks which range from 3 minuets to 17 minuets a piece. BTBAM once again move from one style of music to another with easy sometimes within one track or just from one track to another. That being said, as of right now and only about 3 or 4 listens under my belt I like Colors more right now. Don't get me wrong, this is a great album so far and Colors also grew on me to the point of loving every second of listening to it. Right now this album is just missing that special something that Colors has. You should still give this a couple listens though. Make sure you have the time to listen to it in one sitting.

So there is something for you to read. I'll have more soon hopefully. Enjoy.

Movies, Commentaries and Laughs

Sorry for missing a week already. Things have been busy or I have been lazy. Either way I do plan on staying on top of things.

This past week has been fairly slow, but I like it that way every now and then. I don't plan on it picking up anytime soon and that's fine. In a couple of weeks I'll have little to no free time and will start to travel a good bit. I am looking forward to all the stuff the summer is bringing my way this year like camping, theme parks and beaches.

This past Sunday Catie and I went out to King of Prussia to see the new Pixar film UP. We also just wanted to get out of York for a day. It's never a bad drive to get out there and it was totally worth it. If you don't know already UP is a film about an old man that uses a ton of balloons to move his house to South America in honor of his wife. After he "launches" the house he realizes that he has a stowaway in the form of a portly little kid. The story goes from there and I don't want to give to much away. We were able to catch a showing in 3D. I'm not a huge fan of 3D normally unless it's a carnival ride, but this was awesome. Instead of using the 3D to make things pop out and have things thrown at you, the director decided to use it more for depth then anything else and it works great. Go check it out.

From Conor's Bolg:
I like this. I agree with a lot of it. I have no clue why everyone gets their panties in a bunch over this.

Also if you like that check out his band PANDAS.

Guess what...New Rancid album out!
Yup after 6 years and numerous side projects it's here. Let the Dominoes Fall. It's a rancid album. That's the best way to describe it. You never really know what you are going to get, but you know that it will at least kind of sound like what you know. This album has all types of different sounds. If you have followed any of the side projects especially Tim Armstrong's A Poet's Life then the new album won't be a huge surprise. I have listened to it twice and like it. It grows on you each time. Now the album comes in a regular and deluxe. I know that normally deluxe albums can be a rip-off but this one was not. The full CD, and acoustic version of twelve of the songs and a DVD containing a documentary. All this plus 3 posters for $12.00! Good in my book. If you like Rancid's album Indestructible then you'll probably like it.

Ok that's that. Now check back later this week to catch pics of our new puppy! Alos maybe my review of The Hangover! (it's great)

The Car Story

Here is the story of my car.

When I was living in Lancaster I had a wonderful 2000 Honda Civic SI. I loved this car. the body style was only made in 1999 and 2000 and it was a great car. Never any major problems with it and then ones it had were not expensive. Then one morning when I go to go to work my car is missing. I freak out. I freak out good. I think of everything that could have happened. Did it get repossessed? Did I not park it were I thought I did? I didn't want to think about it getting stolen, but that was what happened.

About a week later I got a call from the police saying they found my car in a field not to far from my place. It had been stolen and stripped down to almost just the frame. I went to see it and it was a shell of what it had been. No motor, wheels, stereo, transmission. They took everything including my ipod and digital camera I had in there and some CD's. To add insult to this they had eaten some breakfast bars I had in there and left the wrappers for me to see. I have pics of this, but not digital.

Well luckily I have good insurance and got a large amount of money from them. Enough to pay off the rest of my loan and still get a good down payment on another car. I decided to look for something other then a Honda because I seemed to have bad luck with them between this incident and flipping my 2001 Civic (which is another story). So I set out on the internet looking for something that I liked and was cheapish.

I stayed up one night and stumbled across a Nissan. I had looked at Nissan when I got my SI but it was to expensive back then. This time around it was not. I found a silver 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V. More horse power, more torque. I was OK with the body. So Nissan it was.

Well The car was doing fine. I have about eight months left of payments on it and now it's just shitting out on me. First I needed new tires. OK that comes with time. BUT I have 17 inch low profile tires which ended costing about $110 a piece. Then the brakes needed to be replaced. OK another thing that wears down. Fine. Well I had to down grade my brakes because of money. So no more high performance brakes for Molyneaux. Then I decide to be an idiot in Maryland and hit a curb. Well that cost me two new tires and a new rim. I find out that my rims are $650 a piece new. That means that it would cost me over $3,000 if I ever had to replace everything! Luckily I found a used rim for only $250. Hitting a curb ended up costing me close to $700.

Well this brings me to last night. I was coming home from Catie's and taking the back roads. I'm going down a hill and making a turn when I hear POP! and then no more air in my tire. I saw nothing so I thought my tire just blew out. Turns out there is a pot hole that is on the side of the road and slightly sticking out. Enough to catch my tire. Well I guess my car is made of aluminum because somehow it blew my tire and BENT MY FUCKING RIM! Now I have to get a new rim on my passenger side. It takes a week for the rim to come in. FUCK!

I want to get rid of this fucking car. I want something simple. Nothing fancy. I'm down with the part of my life. I'll be happy with a Yaris or something small like that.

Want to catch up?

I thought you did. First let me say that I am sorry for the "Tauzin" sized post. I will try to keep them smaller. Ok now to the non-important things. I am done with classes at YTI and am now working at Advance Business Systems, which is simply the best company I could work for right now. That's pretty much what's going on.

Now to the important stuff. This past weekend Catie and I drove down to Holly Spring, NC to see my sister Kelly and her husband Jimmy. They have lived down there for about 3 or 4 years I think and this is the second time I have ever been down to see them. I'm such a good brother.

We left about 7am on Friday and drove to Natural Bridge, VA as a side trip. We found a road side attraction there that made us drive an extra two and a half hours out of our way. Now what would make me do that. I spend enough time in my car every week that when the weekend rools around I want nothing to do with it. So once again what could this road side attraction be? DINOSAURS in the CIVIL WAR! Yes you read that correct. It WOULD have been awesome, but we couldn't really find any info for it, so we took our chance and it was closed. Most of the attractions were closed, but we still got a couple pictures.
This was outside the main building.

And he was just inside the main building.

This was the sign that lead you up the hill to where the monster museum and Dino kingdom were.

This is the enterance to the monster museum. Funny story. The fence to the right didn't wrap around. So we decided to walk in and see what we could see. So we park the car in a place hidden from the road and go in and start walking up the hill. Right about the time we get to the top we hear sierens start to wail. Needless to say we both bolted to the car and drove away.

I want to go back. There is a lot to do. They have things like Foamhenge. You know you want to go also.

Now onto North Carolina. No more then 10 minuets down the road we see this.
Just in the middle of a town, still ready for the holidays. I pulled over to take a picture and people gave ME a look for taking a picture of the dinosaur in the middle of the town.

Ok so NOW onto North Carolina. The rest of the drive was alright. Hit a bit of traffic, but not bad. We get there, sit down for about an hour or so and then out to the city. Kelly and Jimmy took us to a museum to see the history of Raleigh NC in pictues. It was nice, but the place was packed full of people and a lot of hipsters. We walked around saw everything, and left. Then we went next door to a resturant named the "Big Easy". One guess want type of food they served. We all got a drink, and ordered some of the best food I had had in awhile. We got crab poppers, which were like little spicy, cheesey crab cakes, alligator bites, crab pretzel & lobster raviolli. It was delicious. We were going to go from there to a bar, but that didn't work otu to well and we ended up just going home and crashing.

The next day we woke up to find out that my sister has some of the most uncomfortable pillows known to man. My neck was trashed. A hand full of Advil helped out thouth and we headed out toa HUGE flea market. It reminded me of the world's largest yard sale. We all walked out with something. I was able to find a new camera for my collection. I got a Kodak instmatic from 1973 with flash cube. We left there to go into Apex I think for some pizza and beer and then back to the house for some rest before we went and saw Watchman. I have my veiws and opinions for the movie, but haven't been able to get them organized enough to write about it. Short answer, I really enjoyed the movie, I love the grpahic novel.

Sunday we woke up to a pancake breakfast which may seem nice, but it was in preperation to the 5 mile hike awaiting us. We took a 5 mile hike around a beautiful lake.

One of the first things I saw when we got onto the trail was this.....

It was a very nice hike. Cool wind coming in from the water almost the whole time. We did the whole thing in about 2 hours. Then it was time to get some food and get on the road. We made it back to Catie's in about six and a half hours. I dropped her off and made my way home. It was a long weekend and a lot of driving, but it was all worth it. Thanks to Kelly and Jimmy for housing us for the weekend and primarily feeding us. Looking forward to doing it again.

Here are some more pictures of the lake......

There is a nuclear power plant on the lake.

Marsh-like areas

These are some amusing places that Catie and I thought you may like

And FINALLY this is what Catie does to me in Little Big Planet

P.S. The Mid-Atlantic garden show this year handed out little bottles of wine to everyone at the party, and one of MY pictures from last year was on evey bottle. WOO!

2009 The Return

Ok I know that as the year went by I slacked more and more on this site. There were many reason for this and I;m not going to get into it. 2009 is upon us though and with that I want to get back to updating this on at least a bi weekly basis. Preferably on a weekly basis. So make sure to check on a weekly basis. I plan on updating on Sunday's so try Monday and see what's been going on that week. Hope to see everyone around and I hope that everyone has a great 2009.

A quick rundown to get those who care up to date. I have about 3 weeks of classes left, and then I will be starting a job with Advance Business Systems in Hunt Valley Maryland. This of course means I will be leaving Borders after 2 and a half years. Catie and I are still doing great. She is a wonderful lady and I could not ask for anyone better. That's all for now.

Check back sunday and see what's going on.
